Corinna Gaus:

Born in Wolfsburg 11/12/1976 her passion for horses was revealed as a small child.

At that time the few horses were in the background of cows, pigs and chickens on the Wiesenhof.

Corinne’s equine journey started at 4yrs of age with the Shetland mare Netti with whom she gained her first experience of handling horses.

The beautiful grey mare Asta came to the stables two years later. Between 1982 & 1986 combining lessons and training she competed in her first shows collecting her first rosettes in novice classes of both dressage and show jumping.

In 1987 Corinna and her sister gained valuable experience on yet another mare Cinderella who proved to be a great school mistress in the jumping arena.

The daughter of county stud stallion Wohlklang, Wohlgafeuer (pony) came to Corinna during her tenth year. With this mare the journey was made from novice to medium classes of dressage. A result of hard work combined with instruction from talented mentors.

In the period 1987-1991 Corinna participated in the County Championships for Dressage ponies on varying mounts.

Corinna and her sister competed on many horses on their career journey through the stables in jumping classes up to 1.20m.

The home bred son of Western Star WIDU was the first home product that Corinna trained all the way to Grand Prix dressage classes.

With this gelding Corinna honed her skills, through intensive training with Heike Kemmer and Holga Finken both successful and respected riders.

During the time (1991-1994) Corinna concentrated on the training of the home bred horses together with rider duty at the Verden horse auction Center.

In 1996 she even made time to successfully complete her school A levels.

Consequent to a training clinic at the County Trainings School at Hoya Corinna commenced a long lasting period with Hans-Heinrich Meyer another well respected trainer.

Further training periods were completed at both Kasselmann Stables in Hagen and with Holger Schemer at DOKR Warendorf.

Hans-Heinrich Meyer zu Strohen played a special role in the development of the stallion Shakespeare in Love. Corinna qualified him for the 4, 5 & 6 year old novice dressage horse classes in the National Championships in Warendorf.

The year 2000 was another busy and successful year. Her national riding qualifications moved to the next level with honours, at Hoya and the jumping stables of Horst Rimkus in Verden.

The insemination facility was opened on home soil after the insemination assistant qualifications were completed. This again took place at Heike Kemmers Amselhof in Walle.

Corinna obtained top marks for her MASTER (Pferdewirtschaftsmeisterin) National qualification in 2003.

The stallion at stud, Shakespeare in Love, underlined his quality in 2005 as 9yo by winning the NÜRNBERGER CUP at the Redefin Show and competing in the final of the BURG CUP in the Frankfurt Festhalle.

Our History:

As long as we can remember there have been horses here. In to the 60's horses played their part in the work force.

In 1971 Robert Gaus married Margret Possiel and the foundations were set for Hof Gaus.

Coming from a farming background Robert Gaus eventually took charge of running the farm. The responsibility led to him giving up his showjumping pursuits. Successes for him up to 1.30m. classes were not only limited to local shows; some of his best placings were competed for in the Bremen Stadthalle indoor show.

The farm was eventually increased to 130 hectares and modernised.

The breeding program continued and in the 70's with Robert Gaus using stallions from further afield like Goji with the famous Gotthard blood flowing through his veins. The thoroughbred blood came from Ballyboy xx for example, both stallions were representing the Oldenburg stud book. In those days local stallions were generally used as the mares were covered by the stallion before AI became the norm. The logistics of this breeding plan made it an exception in those years.

The dealing side of the business always continued, Robert regularly secured talented horses and supplied them to their new owners.

In 1987 the indoor school and more stabling were built and the horses took a more prominent place, the livery side of things increased and the broodmare count went to 6.

Corinna Gaus took over the training and marketing of the homebred youngsters in 1998. Also that year the state-registered stallion Shakespeare in Love was bought to develop and sell on.

However in 2000 an insemination station and stallion boxes were built, and Shakespeare in Love became a permanent fixture.

Furthermore in 2000 Janine Hilgert joined the team bringing with her knowledge of the breeding side of things and responsibility for the novice schooling.

Also that year the stallion offering was added to, in the form of Shalimaro, a Sunset Boulevard xx son.

At this time too Corinna took a further step up the qualification ladder to (Pferdewirtin), passing with flying colours. Followed later by the Master qualification mentioned earlier. This led to the National recognition as an official training centre generating more training of guest horses from other breeders.

The main focus now concentrated on breeding, training, and the placement of young talented horses; it necessitated increasing the apprentice staff count to two from then on.

As from 2011 the majority of the acreage was rented out for agricultural purposes.
